Algonquins

The term "Anishinabe", which means "true people", in the Algonquin language, is what the Algonquins call themselves. The Anishinabeg of Quebec still use their mother tongue, which is spoken by 60% of the population. Proudly preserving their traditions, the Anishinabeg remain very close to their ancestral way of life. Since some do not have access to modern conveniences, the Kitcisakik people continue to practice a traditional lifestyle.
