Innu
The Montagnais, were so called by the Europeans, with whom they traded freely, because they inhabited the low mountains of the North Shore. The Montagnais have always called themselves Innu, meaning "human being". With 14,725 individuals in 2001, this nation is the most populous of Quebec.
