Day 1 :  Wendake (Quebec)

 

Departure towards the Onhoüa Chetek8e traditional site, located 30 minutes from Quebec City, where several guide-interpreters lead you through a recreated setting that will take you back in time to the Huron’s traditions and way of life. Accompanied by a specialized guide, have fun sightseeing Old Wendake. Afterwards, visit a forest site located near Tewkesbury accompanied by a Huron guide. Supper consists of traditional foods and in the evening you may enjoy a camp fire, weather permitting. Sleep in a tent or a tepee.

Day 2 : Tewkesbury / Mashteuiatsh

Enjoy breakfast and leave for Mashteuiatsh. From that moment on, you have several possibilities to choose from: guided visit of the community as well as the Indian Museum and use your free time to discover the Montagnais community located on the shores of Lake St. John. Find a Bed & Breakfast in the community where you can enjoy a good night’s sleep. The evening can be spent sitting around a camp fire, weather permitting.

Day 3 : Mashteuiatsh / Ashuapmushuan

 

After breakfast at the B & B, leave for the Ashuapmushuan Wildlife Reserve located near a Montagnais ancestral site. On the way, lunch is yours to enjoy on your own. This journey will permit you to totally immerse yourself in the Montagnais’ traditional way of life. Hiking with guide-interpreters, demonstrations of craft techniques, traditional foods, evening entertainment around a camp fire, sleeping in the tepee. Please note that you have the possibility of staying over a few days to try out the various activities.

Day 4 : Ashuapmushuan / Essipit

 

Have breakfast and leave for Essipit in the late forenoon. Settle into a condo that provides you with a breathtaking view of the river. Spend the night in a condo (fully furnished apartment).

Day 5 : Essipit / Papinachois

 

Breakfast is on your own and the morning is yours to enjoy nature in all its beauty and the river. Possibility of seeing one of the world’s greatest mammals (the Whale) in the company of Montagnais people. You will have the opportunity to learn about this impressive sea mammal that spends every summer in the St. Lawrence River. Afterwards, leave for the Papinachois Vacation Centre, a Montagnais ancestral site set up in the wilderness, close to the Betsiamites community. You will be treated to a reception and traditional foods for supper. The evening is yours to visit the area and experience walking through the hiking trails around the site. Spend the night at the inn (sleeping bags are furnished for those who choose to sleep in the tepee).
