| Kathia Rock |
Embraced by music, Kathia’s dreams are inflamed by the sacred Innu drum
as it resonates with her every breath. Rhythmically tied, they vibrate as one
in symbiotic togetherness. She is one of the very few Innu women to be given
sanction to play the sacred drum by the Elders; the teueikan being a traditional
male instrument.
Her powerful voice penetrates the flesh, invades the senses to their very roots.
Clear and fresh, her singing awakens the native child in everyone, soothingly,
mellifluously. Shaman of the soul, of the ages, Kathia Rock entrances with her
visceral art, permeates the air with human resilience; unfailing, heartwarming,
and serene.
